Players
- Games will be played 1v1
- Regular Season: Each school will have 5 players.
- Players are set at the beginning of the year and can not be switched out during the season.
- Each player will play matches against the opposing team based on ability level. Number of matches will be based on how many players each team has.
- Playoffs and State: The 5 players players that played regular season will be eligible for playoffs as long as they have not had 2 weeks of forfeits during the season.

- Stocks: 3
- Time: 7:00
- Team Attack: On
- Stage Hazards: Off
- Items: Off
- Final Smash Meter: Off
- Spirits: Off
- Damage Handicap: Off
- Launch Rate: 1.0x
Game play
- Regular season games will be at least 1 game or can be a Best of 3. Before matches begin, coaches will decide this based on time and amount of games played.
- Playoffs will be Best of 3
Stages
- Both players will need to select the map in order to make sure the correct map is selected. If the correct map is not selected, there will need to be a reset of the map.
- Week 1
- Map 1 – Battlefield
- Map 2 – Smashville
- Map 3 – Town and City
- Week 2
- Map 1 – Small Battlefield
- Map 2 – Yoshi’s Story
- Map 3 – Unova Pokemon League
- Week 3
- Map 1 – Final Destination
- Map 2 – Lylatt
- Map 3 – Pokemon Stadium 2
- Week 4
- Map 1 – Battlefield
- Map 2 – Kalos Pokemon League
- Map 3 – Yoshi’s Story
- Week 5
- Map 1 – Small Battlefield
- Map 2 – Pokemon Stadium 2
- Map 3 – Smashville
- Week 6
- Map 1 – Final Destination
- Map 2 – Town and City
- Map 3 – Kalos Pokemon League
- Week 7
- Map 1 – Battlefield
- Map 2 – Unova Pokemon League
- Map 3 – Lylatt
- Winner of a stage must stick with their same character for the next map
- Unless agreed upon by all players, the same stage cannot be picked twice
Controllers
- Controllers: Joy-Cons, GameCube controllers, Nintendo Pro Controllers (third party controllers are allowed as long as they are third party versions of the GameCube or Pro Controllers)
Characters
- DLC characters cannot be played in tournaments for the first 2 weeks after their release, no other characters are banned from tournament play
- Miis: Banned
- Amiibos: Banned
Extras
- If the game ends in a self destruct move (Hero’s Kamikaze), the results of the match is determined by the end result screen
- If games are scheduled to play, and a team is not present or able to play at the scheduled time, the team not present will forfeit the match and will be recorded as a loss. This does not include instances of something out of the team’s control, ie snow day, internet outage, etc.
- Smash games played online will require EACH player to be on a Nintendo Switch and players will need to have Nintendo Online.
